Silver Star, BC Mountain Stats
One of Canada's best grooming teams operates Silver Star's fleet of
Bombardiers. Each and every night after the chairlifts close, our team sets
out to deliver velvety swales of corduroy so you can cruise the mountain in
comfort all day long.
The Vance Creek has immaculately groomed runs with wide-open spaces, uncrowded
slopes and great views of the Monashee Mountains.
Serviced by the largest six-passenger chairlift in Canada, the Comet Express
enables skiers and riders to quickly access Silver Star's award winning
terrain on the mountain's front side. But wait - there is a whole lot more to
this amazing mountain.
The magical experience of Silver Star expands this winter with the addition of
Silver Woods, increasing Silver Star's front side terrain by 54%. Over 360
acres of new terrain with five intermediate runs, two advanced runs and a
beginner run, loads of glade "tree islands" to explore,. It's all serviced by
a whopping $4.5 million express quad chair. The new lift will service 341
metres (1,120 vertical feet on the north-east facing slopes, whisking skiers
and snowboarders to the top in less than five minutes!
Silver Star definitely has a dark side that will challenge any hardcore
enthusiast. With over 60 runs serviced by the high-speed Powder Gulch Quad,
Putnam Creek is renowned for black diamond runs and deep powder snow that will
test even the most fervent skier or snowboarder.
Winch-cat grooming nightly creates steep fall line cruising that will leave
you breathless. You'll find yourself saying, "Thank goodness I put the kids in
daycare!"
TELUS Park witnessed so much action at its sister mountain, it continues on
this season at Silver Star. The upgraded Terrain Park & Rail Garden features
along with the regular Halfpipe are the key features that proved to be very
popular last season. The Race Centre is home of the Vernon Ski Club and has
hosted the 2005 Canadian Masters Slalom Race, the K1 & K2 Zone Finals and the
Nancy Greene Zone Finals.
