Zurs Mountain Stats
Gateway: Zurich
Founded in the 14th century, Lech, surrounded by 9,000 foot mountains, retains
its medieval charm while its slopes bask in international fame. This idyllic
setting offers downhill runs from both sides of the valley right to the center
of town. Tree-free steep descents and wide open bowls provide great skiing for
all levels. Your lift ticket links you with nearby Zurs, Zug, St. Anton, St.
Christoph, and Stuben. Lech & Zürs have it all: world famous ski schools,
guided ski tours, heli-skiing, snow-boarding, paragliding, child care at ski
kindergarten, winter hiking, cross country skiing in untouched nature, ice
skating and Austrian style curling, toboggan run, horse drawn sleigh rides,
outdoor cafes , late afternoon tea dances, and entertainment that runs until
almost dawn complete the picture. Who could ask for more?
Zürs is situated at an altitude of 1,720 meters/5,643 feet in the heart of Vorarlberg, Austria. With its 33 (mainly chair) lifts, it reaches all the way up to 2,450 meters/8,038 feet, which opens a skiable vertical drop of 730 meters or 2,395 feet. The geographical location and height of the resort not only guarantees great quality of snow, but also comfortable temperatures (around 14 degrees Fahrenheit) and magnificent scenery. The small village, mostly known by mouth-to-mouth propaganda, has three keys to its success. Firstly there's the generally high quality of every aspect of the resort, including the ideal preparation of the 100 kilometers (60 miles) of slopes of which 27 percent are for beginners, 49 percent for intermediates, and 24 percent for expert skiers. |
