Wengen

The ski region is reached by rack railway from both Grindelwald and Wengen or by cableway.  The resort lies on a wind protected sun terrace at the foot of the Jungfrau, 400 metres above the Lauterbrunnen valley.  This traditional, car free resort offers a family friendly ski area around the Männlichen and the Kleine Scheidegg.  Opening widely to the south west, the terrace guarantees above average hours of sunshine. The significant excursion destinations within the Jungfrau region can all be reached easily from Wengen.

Why Wengen

  • Every year in January over 60,000 fans flock to Wengen from all over the world to experience the International Lauberhorn races.
  • With nostalgic timber houses, the spread of holiday chalets and hotels dating from the belle époque period, this Bernese Oberland resort has retained all the character of a picture-postcard mountain village.
  • The railway journey up onto the Jungfraujoch is spectacular.  The two en-route stations are within the 7 kilometre rock tunnel and have viewing windows for an incomparable panorama of the glacier world.
