Snowbird & Alta

Snowbird, Utah is in the heart of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Little Cottonwood Canyon, one mile down the canyon from Alta.  Snowbird has one Aerial Tram, ten chairlifts and two conveyer lifts.  Snowbird averages approximately 500 inches of low-density, “dry” Utah powder annually.  Thanks to ideal geography and a phenomenon called Lake Effect, Little Cottonwood Canyon powder is known worldwide.  Alta can be accessed on skis from Snowbird, but this extreme skiing mountain remains for those on two planks only.  Although famous for its steeps and deeps, there is still plenty of terrain for beginners and intermediates.
