Meet the mountains
Aspen Snowmass comprises four distinct mountains: Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk. Each offers a unique experience, ensuring that every level of skier and snowboarder finds their perfect terrain.

Snowmass, the largest of the four, offers a staggering 3,339 acres of terrain, ensuring plenty of space for exploration. It features everything from wide-open groomers to challenging glades and terrain parks, making it perfect for families and advanced skiers alike. The wide-open layout creates space for every visitor to find their dream day on the mountain. Snowmass Village delivers dining, shopping, and entertainment for all ages, all day and evening long. Latest News - Hero's Terrain on Aspen Mountain
Debuting in the 2023–2024 winter season, the new Hero’s terrain (main pic) and high-speed quad chairlift added 153 acres of snowy goodness to Aspen Mountain and increased skiable terrain by more than 20% on the upper, eastern aspects. The recent expansion offers more top-notch skiing and riding including nineteen chutes, three infinitely explorable gladed areas, and four cut trails. Named for the many local legends who made the project possible, the setting is as idyllic as it gets. Views travel up Independence Pass and down to the valley floor, where the Roaring Fork River carves a meandering line through the snow-blanketed North Star Nature Preserve. It’s a gorgeous section of the mountain, peaceful, and serene. Not only does the opening of Hero’s diversify Aspen Mountain’s terrain mix and offer more skiing on the upper portion of the mountain, but it also acts as a functional hedge against future climate-challenged ski seasons: with its north-facing, high elevation terrain (all above 10,000 ft.). This area is ideal for holding snow in seasons when natural snowfall is less plentiful.
