Megève
Charming, elegant and car-free, Megève was founded upon a medieval 13th century village and developed by the Rothschild family into France’s answer to St Moritz. The cobbled streets ooze Gallic ambience and are fringed with ritzy boutiques, antique shops, galleries and brasseries. A mecca for foodies, the village has some superb restaurants, three of which are Michelin-starred. Part of the massive Évasion Mont Blanc ski area, the slopes here are great for beginners and intermediates, whilst the slopes of Mont Joux and Mont Joly offer plenty of challenging terrain for the expert skier and snowboarder.
