Cortina d’Ampezzo: the Perfect Olympic Stage

Long known as the Queen of the Dolomites, Cortina d’Ampezzo is no stranger to the global spotlight. Host of the 1956 Winter Olympics, the resort blends deep alpine heritage with modern luxury, offering dramatic terrain, long sunny spring days and a buzzing après-ski scene.

What makes Cortina especially special for 2026 is its setting. The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage-listed mountain range, famous for their sheer cliffs, pastel sunsets and vast interconnected ski areas. Late February brings excellent snow coverage, longer daylight hours and crisp bluebird conditions – ideal for both elite competition and everyday skiers.

For travellers watching from home, the Games are a reminder of why Europe remains one of the most inspiring snow holiday regions in the world.

Who We’ll Be Cheering for at Milano Cortina 2026

The Winter Olympics are always about more than medals.  They’re about stories, rivalries, comebacks and once-in-a-generation performances. Here are the athletes (and teams) our Mogul Ski World crew will be cheering for this February.

Scotty James. Snowboard Halfpipe for Australia

Leading the charge is Melbourne’s own Scotty James, heading into Milano Cortina in phenomenal form. Fresh off gold at the LAAX Open in Switzerland, Scotty has now touched down in Aspen to prepare for the X Games – an event he’s already won seven times.

With momentum, experience and unmatched consistency, Scotty is firmly among the favourites for Olympic gold. If you want to dive deeper into his journey, we highly recommend watching Scotty James: Pipe Dream, which chronicles his life, career and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Jakara Anthony. Moguls for Australia

One of Australia’s most exciting freestyle skiers, Jakara continues to redefine consistency at the top level. Her precision, speed and mental toughness make her a must-watch once the moguls competition begins.

Tess Coady. Snowboard Slopestyle for Australia

A proven performer on the world stage, Tess brings creativity, composure and serious technical ability to both slopestyle and big air. Expect fireworks.

Danielle Scott. Aerial Skiing for Australia

An Olympic medallist and crowd favourite, Danielle’s aerial skiing is always thrilling (and heart-stopping) to watch.

James Woodsy Woods. Freestyle Skiing for Great Britain

A fan favourite among our team with UK ties, Woodsy’s style, flair and longevity make him one of freestyle skiing’s true icons.

Jutta Leerdam. Speed Skating for Netherlands

From the Netherlands, Jutta brings pure power and elegance to speed skating – a discipline where fractions of a second make history.

Germany men’s ice hockey team

Germany’s men’s ice hockey squad reads like a who’s who of elite NHL talent. Fast, physical and tactically sharp, they’ll be one of the most exciting teams to watch on the ice.
