Mt. Hood
Located in the backyard of downtown Portland, Mt Hood is Oregon’s tallest peak and home to three independently owned ski resorts. With a huge ski area and the most black diamond runs in Oregon, there’s plenty to keep skiers and riders carving for hours. Mountain activities include family-friendly cosmic tubing, romantic sleigh rides, snowshoeing and sledding. Accessible by self-drive or custom tour companies, Mt Hood is still a hidden gem loved by the Pacific Northwest locals. Another drawcard is that there is no sales tax in the state of Oregon, meaning visitors can save hundreds of dollars by avoiding taxes on rentals, lift tickets, shopping, dining, lodging and recreation.
