HOSHINO RESORT TOMAMU
EAT
There are plenty of restaurants throughout the small resort to sample great local Hokkaido produce. Along Hotalu Street there are more than 20 restaurants and cafes offering a wide selection of dining experiences. Be sure to check out:
FOREST RESTAURANT NININUPURI – As a buffet style restaurant, Forest Restaurant Nininupuri is great for sampling a wide selection of the delicious produce and flavours of Hokkaido. Almost as amazing as the food are the views of the incredible pine forest that sits outside the restaurants glass walls.
RAMEN AFURI – Nothing beats a bowl of steaming hot ramen on a cold day. Ramen Afuri is a hugely popular ramen bar from mainland Japan that is famous for its more-ish soup and carefully selected ingredients. The most popular dish is the yuzu and citrus salt ramen, made with aromatic yuzu citrus juice. YUM!
STAY
The resort offers two hotels; RISONARE Tomamu – A deluxe all-suite hotel located on an elevated site in the resort surrounded by a lush forest of coniferous trees. Each room is at least one hundred square metres and comes with a jet bath and sauna. Ski-in/ski-out access to a green run makes for a convenient start to your ski day.
And Tomamu The Tower – An affordable option which is conveniently located in the heart of the resort with the main quad lift at the door making for easy access to the slopes each morning. Modern hotel rooms are generous in size and have subtle Japanese décor.
PLAY
On the mountain, cat skiing is available and the base area is filled with snow activities such as snowmobiling, snow rafting, cross country skiing, paraskiing, snowshoeing and dog sledding. One of Tomamu’s highlights is the illuminated village which is a collection of domes constructed entirely of snow and ice. If you want a break from the snow, you can visit Mina Mina beach which has one of Japan’s largest indoor wave pools!
Ride an early morning gondola up to the top of the mountain and you will find yourself in a sea of fluffy white clouds on Unkai (Sea of Clouds) Terrace. Here you can explore a range of viewing platforms including Cloud Walk, Sky Wedge, Cloud Bar and the newest addition, Cloud Pool – a giant cloud like hammock where you can relax and feel like you are floating on air, overlooking the world below.
