In some welcome news of a step in the direction of progress, the European Union has now lifted its ban on non-essential travellers from Australia, along with 13 other nations with low numbers of Coronavirus cases. While the Australian Federal Government still has an international travel ban in place restricting us from leaving, it’s good to know that if we continue to work together and slow the spread, we could be heading to the beautiful snow resorts of the European Alps sooner than expected.
For the time being, we’ll continue to #StaySafe, dreaming and planning until we can confidently lock in our next adventures. In light of the EU lifting restrictions, this week we #TravelFromHome to the majestic mountains of Cervinia in Italy.
Read on for our inspirational guide to the region, insider tips from our expert travel advisors, along with a classic Italian cocktail recipe and Melbourne’s top at-home restaurant offerings for a bellissimo lock-down night in.
Our colleagues at Jigsaw Travel have an incredible Australian Spring escape offer from Hayman Island by InterContinental for Spring 2020 that we share below. Because when we can’t ski, we sun!

INSIDERS GUIDE TO CERVINIA
Beautiful Cervinia stretches through three valleys, over two countries and has the Matterhorn at the centre making it a truly spectacular and one-of-a-kind winter holiday destination. Cervinia is one of the highest ski resorts in the world, peaking at nearly 4,000 metres, meaning the ski area is huge and the season runs from November right through until the start of May. The efficient lift network gives you the chance to ski or snowboard all day long without ever going down the same run twice.
WHY CERVINIA?
– Access to the slopes of Valtourneche and Zermatt all under one lift pass.
Average Snowfall – 750cm
Runs – 200km
The luxury Relais & Chateaux hotel and spa is designed in the purest of mountain traditions, with interiors of warm wood and fine fabrics, antique furniture, paintings and local artisan pieces. Panoramic mountain views are on offer from the balconies of each of the rooms and suites and the on-site spa heaven after a big day on the mountain, featuring an indoor heated pool, sauna, Turkish bath, fitness area and wellness centre.
